With more drivers buying electric vehicles, the question of where to charge them in public places is becoming a high priority for many people.

According to the National Charge Point Registry UK, there is currently one public place to charge your electric car in Midsomer Norton, and that is the Midsomer Norton Leisure Centre.

The leisure centre has confirmed that the charger is for general public use, you do not have to be using the leisure centre facilities to plug in.

The electric vehicle charging connector type there is a Type 2 Mennekes at 7kW.

The government is currently in a consultation period for proposals to alter existing residential and non-residential buildings regulations to include electric vehicle infrastructure requirements.

It is proposing to alter building regulations for new residential buildings to include requirements for electric vehicle chargepoints and for non-residential buildings to include requirements for electric vehicle chargepoint infrastructure.

Also the government wants to introduce a requirement for existing non-residential buildings to have electric vehicle chargepoints.
