Builders were today (June 11) working in the former library on the High Street in Midsomer Norton.

The team of contractors, who have come from Nottingham, were not able to tell Nub News what is going to be put into the building, adjoining Holly Court.

But they have been told to gut the inside ready for plasterers to come in next week.

The building, now reverted from the council ownership to a private owner, will be turned into the nationwide optician network Specsavers.

The old library was moved into the Council's One Stop Shop in the Hollies garden in June 2018. The building was bought in early 2019 in a sale organised by Hartnell Taylor Cook but the new owner has never been named.
