Somer AC runners do the district proud - but if the heats are not for you how about a hot quiz?

Great finish
Great finish

It's been another busy weekend for all runners at Somer Athletic Club and that means it's a mammoth medal monday.

Victoria Ratcliffe spent her Saturday being under the blazing sun doing the Endurancelife Exmoor Marathon. As ever, she ran brilliantly to come back in second place lady and third overall. Superb!

Then the club was out in force on Sunday. After a night's camping, with the youth athletes rocking the Relish Running Races Cheddar Omnium; an all day event consisting of four separate races, all supported by the coaching team.

There was a first, second third in the 6km from Oliver, Tyler and Owen, as well as 6th, 7th, 10th and 11th places plus a host of category winners such as Evie as 1st U20 Female. Once again, big thanks to all at Relish Running Races and the marshals and supporters who braved the increasingly hot weather. Also, big mentions to Martin Dera Richard Maddock Jo Merrick Simon Clarke Matt Exley and Claire Blewitt who (amongst others) have given up so much time to support the development of the younger athletes.

As well as 18 Somer AC runners at Cheddar, the squad had 27 runners at the always delightful Chew Valley 10km. Lots of good times despite the very hot and humid conditions.

Somer Athletic Club is a really friendly running club, with Juniors, Youth and Seniors branches. Whether an experienced runner, returning to it, or just looking to get into it, they can help you achieve your goals. Perhaps Bath Half Marathon is looming large on the kitchen calendar? They have experienced coaches and structured sessions to help you in your running. Find out more at www.somerac.org.uk or just drop us a line.

And it is not just the running - this coming Saturday 17th June at 6.30pm at Welton Rovers clubhouse for Sharon's Somer Social Quiz Night - a charity quiz night with questions, fun and laughter.
