Greetings, we all know February is that time of year you're going to see lots of love hearts, teddy bears and let's face it chocolate. Throughout history this celebration has also spanned, movies, books, music and more. The title of this article, I couldn't help but requote a romance movie that had to have Heath Ledger in it. This month I've dived into the recognised date of February 14th. Only to uncover, there's a lot more to it than just being all about love.

It's a rather indeterminate time, this. Christmas is out of the way and there seems to be a yawning gap before the next meaningful episode in our social calendars. Our attention inevitably turns to the state of our homes and the incessant hum of the vacuum cleaner, jet-wash and rotavator is heard throughout the land. Others are scrutinizing seed catalogues in the sure expectation of vegetables and flowers a-plenty in later months.

WECA Mayor Dan Norris and Martin Chandler

It was cake and balloons all round as West of England Metro Mayor Dan Norris helped Cancer Research UK celebrate their 20th birthday ahead of World Cancer Day.

Presenting a 20th Birthday cake to shop manager Martin Chandler, the Metro Mayor praised the 'incredible work' of Cancer Research UK in tackling the leading cause of death in the world. The national charity funds ground breaking research led by researchers at the University of Bath into stopping smoking and the effect this has on mental health, and high level chemical analysis.
