UNTIL Tuesday 12 September
Join the local experts behind Midsomer Norton's new heritage audio trail and find out the real stories of some of our High Street heroes, past and present.
This September sees the launch of a new heritage audio trail showcasing the hidden histories of Midsomer Norton High Street. Attend this event and be one of the first to hear highlights from the trail, learn how it was created, and listen to short talks from the experts whose research into local history made the trail possible.
These illustrated talks will share fascinating details of some of the people who helped to make Midsomer Norton what it is today - from the 1200s right through to recent history.
Engagement Coordinator Beth Whalley will give an introduction to the new heritage trail, offering behind-the-scenes stories of its creation and presenting some clips from the trail for the very first time. She will discuss how audio trails can shed new light on the history of local places.
Historian Monica Evans will share the story of the French knight Hugh de Vivonne, responsible for bringing markets and fairs to the town. Meanwhile, historian Nick Waton will be discussing the history of Midsomer Norton's War Memorial, and some of the social backgrounds, personal lives, jobs and families of the people named on it.
