Sad news - the death has been announced of the man who ran The Palladium cinema on Midsomer Norton High Street for 49 years.

Kenneth Steel and his wife were the last owners of the cinema, and he was first associated with the building in 1944 when he was what was called a rewind boy on the projectors.

The cinema itself had opened in 1913 as The Empire and closed in 1993.

The Steels were guests of honour when the former cinema opened as a pub in 2018 following a £2million renovation.

Mr Steel was 93.
