A scanner which turns everything into a big game - and keeps children entertained and potentially winning prizes for being active - has been sadly vandalised in Radstock.

The Beat The Street initiative is being run over the Somer Valley but sadly the street scanner on a bridge over Snail Brook on Waterside has been smashed up.

It will also disappoint over 3,941 players who are currently in the 'game' by seeing how far they can walk, cycle, run, scoot and roll in just six weeks. There are challenges to enjoy and prizes up for grabs for those who take part.

The Beat the Street turns towns including Radstock and also Shepton Mallet into giant games. Players earn points and can win prizes as they discover more about their area by walking, running and cycling until June 28. The boxes are interactive for those taking part who can also play noises on them.

Nub News was sent this photo today (June 1) with a reader expressing frustration that a game has been ruined.

"Some moron has smashed it. Can you post this so that people don't waste their effort walking there. Thank you. "
