Around one hundred and fifty members of the Midsomer Norton Social Club will be pleased to learn that the club has set a date for re-opening.

So will all the other people who enjoy the club - it is also open to non-members.

Club Secretary Martin Coward told Nub News today (July 14) : " We are a friendly club, open to everyone. You don't have to be a member to come in.

" We do Bingo on a Sunday night, we were told under the guidelines that we could do bingo from the fourth of July but we needed to get safety measures put in.

" We are opening up on the 27th see how that goes and then we will bring things on line as we get the members getting back.So its a bit of a wait and see."

The Club is opening at 7.30pm and Martin is looking forward to it.

" We have been closed for a long time, we have got a lot of members who keep asking when we are opening so its going to be great to see them back and hopefully some new faces too."

The Midsomer Norton Social Club, which is next door to Stones Cross Hotel has been on its current site since 1971. It was formerly the Royal British Legion and the United Services Club.

Martin laughed as his told us: " I am the first Secretary ever to close the club ! My claim to fame ! We will be so glad to see everybody and hope everyone has stayed fit and well. See everyone on the 27th."
