The Halfords' store in Midsomer Norton was being cleaned and cleared today (July 14) ready for re-opening on Friday.

Staff told Nub News that it will be re-opening its doors at 8am on July 17 and that they are confident it will not be one of those selected for closure.

Yesterday there were media reports that the company has chosen at least 60 shops which be closing due to poor sales due to coronavirus.

Halfords, which has 446 stores, as well as 371 garages, already had restructuring plans in place for 2020 to streamline its operation, but the global pandemic has forced those plans to be accelerated.

But today in Midsomer Norton, although not confirming anything officially, Nub News was informed that the town's store was 'safe.'
