2024 is a leap year which means an extra day added to the calendar next month. That's great news for Bath and NE Somerset residents with February birthdays as they will have a whole extra day to use their free 'Birthday Bus Month Pass' from Mayor Dan Norris's Mayoral Combined Authority.

Birthday Buses gives locals unlimited free bus and WESTlink travel across the West's 350-plus square mile network throughout the month of their birthday.

The Mayor is urging those in the region with February birthday months and beyond to sign up at www.birthdaybus.co.uk. He said: "Every four years we get an extra day in February and it happens to fall in 2024. That's brilliant news for those out and about using their Birthday Bus Month Pass that month!

"Birthday Buses is a serious plan to get new passengers using our buses to help create a more sustainable bus network. It's also vital in slashing emissions, and helping in this cost-of-living crisis.

"For those with birthdays coming up, and who haven't done so already, make sure you head to www.birthdaybus.co.uk so you can 'leap' on the bus in February, and beyond."

Locals need to apply at least seven days before the start of the month to benefit from the whole scheme. For those with February birthdays, that means they should apply by Thursday 25 January.

But they can still apply up to the 15th of their birthday month, and get their free pass for the remainder of the month.
