A three times a day bus into Bristol from Midsomer Norton has stopped today (Monday September 7).

The bus 177 ran from Midsomer Norton and went on to Paulton, Pensford and then into Bristol.

The service stopped because financial support from Bath and North East Somerset Council for it ended.

The bus service company told Nub News : " For the past couple of years, Service 177 has provided a limited service Monday to Friday at peak times between Bristol and Midsomer Norton. The service has operated with financial support from the local authority and it was intended that as passenger numbers increased that the financial support would no longer be required.

Unfortunately, passenger numbers did not increase and as financial support is no longer available, the service has been withdrawn."

The company offered up passenger alternatives including Services 178 (Bristol Midsomer Norton & Radstock via Keynsham) or 376 (Bristol, A37, Farrington Gurney, Wells & Street), which the company insists " are currently running at either their pre-Covid frequency or better."
