Plans for Christmas decorations in the town will be discussed at Monday's Midsomer Norton Town Council meeting.

The council will be looking at costings for the tree and sorting out the area at The Hollies where it is traditionally placed. That needs what is described in the council agenda as work for the tree pit in The Hollies Garden, which is costed at £5,403.60.

Other costs now made public are

Tree Costs - £8,044.20 (tree supply and install estimated) •

Motif and Tree Light Hire - £5,506.77 •

Motif and Tree Light Installation - £2,211.24 •

Switch on Attendance - £1,144.25 •

Motif and Tree Light Removal - £1,483.89 •

Total - £18,390.35

The council meeting at 7pm on Monday October 3 will also be looking at whether to hire a town crier. The town used to have a crier but Midsomer Norton Nub News has not been able to discover what happened to that post. The plans are that anyone who does work as a crier for the town, will be paid a stipend of £100 a year, but for that they will be expected to provide their own uniform.
