Litter picking? Give it a go Radstock with the latest coronavirus advice here
Several small groups - along with dedicated individuals - have been out in and around Radstock picking up litter.
There are lots of litter heroes working in the area, as the planned mass national rubbish collection was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
A small group of resident volunteers from Tyning are currently litter picking, the owner of the School of Dance, Sue Hill makes it part of her daily commute (and supplied the photo of what she collected in just five minutes) and the WAG's in Writhlington have also been doing 'Rubbish Walks' during their lockdown exercise.
Tyning 'Wombles' came together to litter pick round the area this morning June 7 after the issue was talked about on the 'tyning together' Facebook group. The group are hoping to make this a regular event and also address other issues in the area. One of the most noticeable issues at the moment seems to be the lack of dog poo bins and the group are talking with Trinity School and B&NES about how to get more bins - especially by the school.
Radstock in Bloom is hoping to run a community litter pick later this month with the resumption of their ' No Place For Litter' campaign.
If anyone sees a problem spot of littering they can contact them via social media or email [email protected] Meantime Radstock In Bloom has updated its own advice about picking up litter based on the revised government advice about coronavirus on June 1.Please only consider resuming litter picking if you are happy to do so – there is no obligation or expectation from Radstock in Bloom for you to do this.
