Local lad's fundraising for Parkinson's beats all expectations as he spreads rainbows to the local fire service
A seven year old from Radstock who started out fundraising for Parkinson's and hoped to raise just over two hundred pounds has raised over two THOUSAND for the charity.
Seven year old Ellis Rankin has raised £2243 - a sum his mum says it unbelievable.
His fundraising for the charity has already included setting up an on line quiz with 26 questions, and making, and delivering, 26 rainbows to the local community.
Recipients have already included the local fire service, who are using the rainbows to decorate their window in Radstock and the local hardware store, Thomsons which has remained open through out the lockdown.
All his tasks have been repeats so he has also :
- done 26 judo throws in a row- cycled 26 miles over the week
- and held a vow of silence for 26 minutes. Ellis said: "My mummy organises events for Parkinson's UK and I have taken part or volunteered at most of her events. Every hour, two people in the UK are told they have Parkinson's. It affects 145,000 people in the UK – which is around one in 350 of the adult population. Parkinson's is a degenerative neurological condition, for which there currently is no cure. The main symptoms of the condition are tremor, slowness of movement and rigidity.
