The Rotary Club of Midsomer Norton & Radstock is pleased to introduce their new President, 2020-21, Nick Candy, Managing Director of Techniglaze, Ltd.

Nick Candy has a long connection with the Rotary family. He was a founding member of the Rotaract Club of Midsomer Norton & Radstock in 1976 and became Rotaract's third Club President in 1979 and was Founder Chairman of Rotaract District 120 (now known as District 1200).

Nick left Rotaract at the age of 28 and joined the local Roundtable and was honored to become Chairman in 1990 and he also participated as an Area Executive member and Treasurer. Over the years, Nick has also served as a member of the Freemasons and became Master of one of the Frome Lodges in 2009.

Nick joined the Midsomer Norton & Radstock Rotary Club in 2018. As President he would very much like to see Rotaract reintroduced to our community and see it flourish again within our district. At one time Nick was involved in extension work visiting a great many Rotary Clubs which resulted in the formation of 22 Rotaract Clubs within District 120. Yet, Nick stated, "We would need additional active members to ensure successful implementation of such a project once again.

"Additionally, we need to look at creative and innovative ways of fundraising" said Nick Candy. "The pandemic has certainly made things difficult, however, we need to ensure we are involved in the community and helping out where we can. We need to continue to bring into our club new members that perpetuate what our club and what Rotary is all about. Without new and committed Rotarians we run the risk of stagnation of ideas and energy. And possibly one of the most important goals for this year is that Rotary needs to be fun with a purpose."

Nick went on to say, "Rotary was founded on fellowship and gives you the opportunity to serve, the chance to collectively help others and develop better local and international communities; it is richly rewarding."
