The wearing of face masks in shops comes into force today but Midsomer Norton supermarket Sainsbury's has announced that

along with Costa Coffee, their staff will not challenge customers who enter their stores without masks.

On social media the HQ said "We won't be challenging customers without a mask when they enter or when they are in store since they may have a reason not to wear a mask.

"There will be regular reminders for customers to wear a face covering if they can during their visits to store. We've let our colleagues know that we do not expect them to enforce the new rules. "

The announcement has divided social media, with some customers announcing they will specifically seek out the supermarket because they do not want to wear a mask.

While in another comment: " We will no longer be shopping there as a result. You might think about keeping all of your customers safe, rather than pandering to selfish idiots."
