As Nub News headed to Radstock Town Football Club, for re-opening the bar on what is being dubbed Super Saturday, they were just waiting to get the perspex screens fitted to the bar ready to re-open.

That they are opening at all seems pretty amazing.

That the club house looks as fantastic as it does is, according to chairman Simon Wilkinson, pretty close to a miracle.

" It is absolutely brilliant - if there is one good thing to come out of it (coronavirus) it is this, " he told Nub News.

Just a few weeks ago the club house was just a building site and they still have some tidying up to do,

But now, although there are some last minute adjustments to be made, it is ready to welcome back fans, players and local families for what the chairman is calling something stunning.

Simon told Nub News: " I am absolutely stunned... what has happened here We have a one way system in order. We have the signing in station and the hand sanitiser - we are on course to re-open.

" I am quite looking forward to it, I think all the footballers are coming in after training but we don't really know what to expect."

A queuing system will be enforced with drinks ordered in one part of the bar, collected in another, and then back around to pay. As Simon says: " It is like a big magic circle."

The Club is open from 1- 11 today (Saturday July 4) and 4- 11pm on Sunday, but they will not be open in the week.

Simon added: " I have a pitch out there that is looking really really good. Still a little bit of weed in it, but it is disappearing. Still no news on when football is going to be starting, we are hoping September, it will probably be a little bit later. The lads are training well. Everybody is working hard not just on the pitch but also in the bar. "

Oh and the players might want to know it is Simon's birthday NEXT weekend - just a hint.
