Norton St Philip school clear up after burglary

Pupils at the tiny local school of Norton St Philip have been clearing up and doing some crime prevention work after their school was broken into early yesterday morning. A large log was used to smash the school's main entrance at around 5.10am (Thursday, 12 December). The offender then forced entry into some of the school offices before carrying out untidy searches of them.

Executive Head Carolyn Tommey, in a letter home to parents, said: " However, as far as we can tell only a packet of biscuits was stolen! Our alarm was activated but the offender had left the scene by the time staff arrived. It's believed the offender arrived at the school in a vehicle."

The Police are keen to hear form anyone who witnessed the incident or who saw anything suspicious in the Church Street area of Norton St Philip around the time. If you can help, please call 101 and provide the call handler with the reference 5219286025. If any parents have any information or concerns, please contact PC John Osborne on 07889 658502.

The head also wanted to thank Rev Caroline Walker for welcoming into the Early Bird club into the Church and to Elmer Class for happily relocating upstairs while teachers tidied up the mess.

According to Carolyn some children in Gruffalo Class have been writing posters which read "Keep out, we have a guard dog."

She wrote : " The spirit of keep calm and carry on saved the day."
