School children from two local village schools have taken part in a week of outdoor adventures at the Mendip Activity Centre in Churchill, Somerset.
Year 6 pupils from St Julian's School in Wellow and Shoscombe Church School took part in bush craft, kayaking, archery and even 'went the extra mile' on an assault course.
Headteacher of both schools, Ruth Noall, said: "Everyone loves a week of fun and adventures, especially our Year 6 pupils who have all worked exceptionally hard in school over the past 12 months. This week away was not only a chance to learn new skills, but an opportunity to unwind too!
In all weathers, children had a go at archery, abseiling and axe throwing. Evening activities included team games and night walks through the woods."
Mendip Activity Centre was founded in 2012. It's a unique 250-acre site nestled in the heart of the Mendip Hills AONB with an indoor residential centre, a cafe-bar, snowsports slope, a golf course and tobogganing slope. Onsite also is their limestone quarry, Sandford Quarry, which was first quarried over one hundred years ago and was used by the Home Guard during WWII.
