The Mayor of Midsomer Norton, Cllr Gordon Mackay has been out delivering leaflets letting residents know about the Staddlestones Park Improvement consultation.

The consultation is now available online as part of the Somer Valley Rediscovered project. Residents are being asked for feedback on the draft designs to improve the park in a way that benefits those that use the park most often, so opinions are important to allow the project to progress.

Local residents, and those who currently use Staddlestones Park, or would potentially use the park, are being encouraged to give feedback on the draft designs which consider improved entrances and paths, tree planting, meadow creation and additional seating. A draft masterplan is available here.

It is hoped the proposed improvements will increase biodiversity in the local area, improve accessibility for visitors, increase community engagement with nature and improve the health and wellbeing of local communities.

"I really hope people take a little time to responds to the consultation," said Cllr Mackay. "Staddlestones Park is a wonderful public open space and it's important that residents have their say on how it can best be improved."

The Somer Valley Rediscovered project is being led by BaNES Council, Wessex Water, BaNES Public Health and Natural England with funding from WECA.
