Planning news : A proposed care home in Bath is turned down, closer to home an application by the Hound Lounge in Midsomer

Planning news in and around the local area this week.

Decisions include :

In Wellow planners have permitted an application by Springfield, on the High Street, BA2 8PU (Under application 20/00647/FUL) a proposed change of use from agricultural land to residential. Planning details mean that there will be alterations to the levels of the agricultural land adjacent to the residential property to provide level access and address cattle safety and maintenance.

At 69 Spencer Drive, in Midsomer Norton, ( BA3 2DN - under reference 20/04836/AEA) a proposal to ask for additional environmental approval in relation to an existing application to build a first floor extension over the garage and kitchen, has been agreed. This means that the householder now has until May 1 2021, to commence building work.

And in the wider B&NES area an application to build a care home and older residential facility at Homebase Ltd, on Pines Way, Westmoreland, BA2 3ET, has been refused. The build had been put in by Senior Living Urban (Bath) Limited and involved the redevelopment of that site

which is currently occupied by a large two/three storey retail building to create a new 'care community' consisting of two four storey buildings and two six storey buildings, along with associated access, parking and landscape. The proposed development is located within the existing designated World Heritage Site.

Applications which have been lodged with B&NES planners include:

On Silver Street in Midsomer Norton an application has been put in to build a car park between numbers two and four. This application (under reference 20/04060/FUL) is part of an application to build a 2.5 storey apartment building with four self-contained flats on the site. The applicant is Eclipse South West Ltd and it was lodged on January 4.

The Greyhound Hotel (which bar of which has now been renamed The Hound Lounge ) at 1 High Street, Midsomer Norton, BA3 2LE (under application 20/04982/TCA) has put in an application to fell three trees including a Silver Birch at the site.

In Welton an application is in to build a single storey front extension at 10 Green Tree Road, which is at post code BA3 2UU and under reference 21/00017/FUL).

Homeowners have applied to cut back and cut down a number of trees including a Willow at 29 Bath Old Road, Radstock (20/04983/TCA).

At 34 Stoneable Road in Radstock, (under reference 20/04978/FUL) homeowners have put in an application for a rear extension and provision of loft conversion with new dormer window. This is a resubmission of an earlier application.

And in High Littleton an application has been lodged to build a new four bedroomed home at 41 Mearns, BS39 6JR. This follows the demolition of an existing property. Planning Portal Reference: PP-09382494.
