The trusted local weatherman is warning Midsomer Norton residents to slap on the sunscreen - or even stay indoors - as UV levels shoot up new records.

Kilmersdon weather is predicting temperatures this weekend of 25-27C - but critically with very little cloud cover.

Martin Gibbs told Nub News : "Levels are almost as high as it can be in the U.K. at the moment so sunburn is a serious risk to unprotected fair skin - which will be replicated each day over this coming weekend. In addition grass pollen is very high over the coming days so allergies to this will be tested to the full as well."

He also revealed that it has been the sunniest spring he has ever recorded - with provisional sunshine totals already smashing the previous sunniest season in 2011 by 60 hrs - with three more days to go.
