As the farmers said, red sky at night.
This stunning photo taken last night (May 24) in Coleford appears to be a forecast of better thing to come.
After what is set to be (officially) the wettest May on record, the rain is expected to ease, and the temperatures improve in time for the bank holiday next Monday. Although that will also, according to the Met Office, see the return of rain.
The BBC weather outlook for the week from Thursday to Saturday is:
Thursday will see a mostly sunny start to the day, but patchy cloud will move in through the afternoon. Sunshine could be quite hazy at times and the odd light shower cannot be ruled out. Friday will be dry and warm, with plenty of sunny periods. However, thicker cloud will build in from the west. On Saturday, there will be plenty of sunshine but patchy cloud in places. Warm. The wettest May on record was in 1967, when 131.7mm of rain fell across the month.
