Nub News met this recycling crew out and about today (April 13), and although they did not want to be named, they were keen to stress how all them are trying to keep services as near normal as possible.

However one of the collectors did say: " But we are collecting so much more in the way of recycling, especially cardboard. It is like Christmas, but worse... it seems everyone went on a buying spree and so now we have all the cardboard boxes to collect."

But he and his recycling partner, seemed in a very positive mood, telling Nub News that while they have now been given PPE gloves for all collections, they do not have any masks.

Those are reportedly being given to staff in the recycling offices , while out on the road, with safe distancing, they are staying safe by keeping within socially isolating rules.

In a statement on their web site, the B&NES team said; "We are working hard to keep our rubbish and recycling services running, thanks to the commitment and dedication of our crews and staff. These services are being prioritised, but there may be some delays or missed collections. "

The council has already suspended garden waste collections until further notice.

By way of specific coronavirus advice: " Disposable cleaning clothes, tissues, nappies or any other personal waste should always be put in your rubbish bin. If members of your household have the symptoms of Coronavirus (COVID-19), personal waste like this should be double bagged, tied securely and kept separate from other waste for at least 72 hours before being put in your black wheelie bin or re-usable rubbish bag. Never put any personal waste in recycling boxes as we won't collect it. "
