Midsomer Norton Craft Shop has a surprising revelation along with a surprisingly wide range of stock - but with one thing in common - everything is local.

The popular shop re-opened June 15 , and is now open from 9am until 2 pm while the business settles.

But it was off to a really good start.

The owner told Nub News : " We have done really well, last week I took half a month's money in just seven days."

The shop which has been on the High Street for three years in September is a veritable Aladdin's cave, with candles, clothes, cushions and cards, and those are only a small portion of things for sale.

As Nub News visited the shop, a browsing customer agreed and said: " You have some really lovely stuff, really gorgeous."

Manager Chrissy Meadows has more stock than ever telling Nub News: " I think because a lot of people have done crafting over lock down, we have got a lot of new stuff from all our local crafters."

Top sellers are the local masks, all different all unique, made by three local ladies, " But everything in here sells, everything is popular" said Chrissy. " We are one of those businesses that will survive actually, because we sell something people like and it is not the same as the High Street. If people want something a bit different we have it."

Chrissy is now looking forward to the return of the Somerset Farmers' Market to Midsomer Norton on July 4. She explained to Nub News:

" In fact that is how I started. I was over in the Methodist Church Hall on a Saturday when the farmers market was on, and then moved to the market and when winter came we couldn't be outside."

Chrissy has lived in Midsomer Norton since 1975 and also runs regular craft sessions, so if there wasn't already enough in the shop she has also expanded to stock a range of wools and crafting supplies, so for the customers who want to make, not buy she can help them too.
