In among the awe-inspiring trees, and the dinosaur and, of course the flower pot ladies, there was one exhibition at the Radstock Jubilee festival which was all about encouraging budding local scientists.

University of Bath Spa researcher, Ruby Sant from makes robots from scrap and her able research scientist, were there with a large orchid, made of recycled materials to encourage youngsters.

Radstock Nub News was intrigued - so we had a go - and learnt about how they are taking technology lessons into the field.

Based in Peasedown St John Ruby explained : " We use our robots to teach people, especially young people about robotics and how we can all make our own robots at home. We don't just need white ones from California. Our message is very clear - anyone can make a robot !"

That's the promise, according to Ruby, who has been building robots to inspire youngsters to take up robotics, for the past three years. According to her the main thing is to decide what you want your robot to look like. " Do you want it to look like an android or something else, they can be plants, animals or in our case flowers. It doesn't matter what is important is that we get people inspired. "

With her fellowship with the university they are hoping to take the robot roadshow out and about even more. "We are girls who do robots - so we want more girls especially."

The pair come from Little Lost Robot, which is a Community Interest Company and hopes to take their road show out and about into more schools and festivals... and yes build more robots.
