News in Midsomer Norton and Radstock

Julian House's popular Big Bath Sleep-Out fundraising event is back for 2022, but this year, with a twist. Families, friends, and colleagues are being challenged to sleep outside for one night on Friday 4th March 2022 to support the charity. However, for the first time ever, supporters can choose whether to join the charity and sleep out together in Alice Park or sleep out in their own gardens or homes.

In March 2021, due to the pandemic, the event, which is usually held at Alice Park, encouraged supporters to sleep out at home. Due to positive feedback, the charity decided to create a hybrid sleep out where participants can choose where they would like to take on the challenge.

Local charity Julian House is delighted to announce the return of its Bath Board Game Day event after it was delayed twice by the pandemic. The event, which first took place in November 2019, will be held on Sunday 20th February 2022 in Komedia, Bath. The charity is calling on board game fans young and old to join them, play games and have fun for a good case.

Gamers, new and experienced, can choose to come along for the whole day, 10am-8pm or just half a day and will have the opportunity to pick and play lots of different games from the games library including big blockbuster hits, classics and indie gems. Whether it's a quick and playful game of bluffing and laughter perfect for young children and families or a lengthy game full of strategy and skill for avid gamers, there's something for everyone.

On Saturday 27th November Somerset Coalfield Life at Radstock Museum is hosting a free family trail of 25 hand crafted, mini lit-up Christmas scenes. The museum is encouraging local people to get into the festive spirit and visit the museum between 11am and 5pm to find all 25 Advent windows created by the museum's Education Team volunteers.

Visitors are kindly encouraged to wear face-coverings and will follow a Covid-safe one-way system around the museum in socially distanced groups; the trail will take around 20-30 minutes to complete. A maximum of 50 visitors can be inside the building at any one time and will be counted in and out. It is envisaged that the busiest time to visit will be mid to late afternoon. It is expected that the morning and lunch time will be less busy for those who prefer to visit during a quieter period.

Nearly 100,000 adults across Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire have not come forward for the lifesaving Covid-19 vaccine.

Health officials are now urging those who remain unvaccinated to get the jab as quickly as possible, as doing so now will ensure more people are protected against coronavirus during the upcoming Christmas and new year period.
