Hello there.

I'm Richard Robertson, I was elected to Midsomer Norton's first Town Council in May 2011 and I've been an Independent councillor ever since.

In 2011, Midsomer Norton Town Council owned some litter bins, a couple of bus stops and some benches.

The town now owns the Town Hall, the Somer Centre, the Town Park, Silver Street Nature Reserve, quite a few benches and litter bins and two bus stops! It also holds St. Chad's Well, the Orchard Hall, the Garden of Friendship and Wellow Brook Walk on long leases.

All these assets have been acquired by the Town Council entirely for the benefit of the people of the town and also visitors to the town and we have achieved this by careful attention to fund raising and revenue management. And we haven't finished yet; currently there are changes taking place at the Town Hall and The Island which will enable the return of a Thursday Market and more effective use of the Town Hall's facilities.

I've played my part in the planning and management of these projects and, as I am one of the only two remaining original councillors - my wife is the other one - it seems logical that I remain as councillor to ensure continuity of purpose in these projects.

I know this is a round about way of saying it, but I would really appreciate your vote on May 4th, for the North Ward of Midsomer Norton Town Council.

Thank you.

Richard Robertson
