A housing association is planning to build 32 new affordable homes on the site of flats which they knocked down after nobody wanted to live there.

Curo moved everyone out of Walnut Buildings in Radstock to assess cladding issues. But when the 113 residents were told they could return, none of them wanted to.

They were housed elsewhere and the flats knocked down.

Now the housing association says building 32 new homes on the site, which received planning permission in March, will "cater to the wide range of housing needs in Radstock."

The new homes will be a mix of one- or two-bedroom apartments, and two- and three-bedroom houses. 

17 of the homes will be available as social housing through Bath and North East Somerset Council's housing list, with the other 15 for sale through shared ownership.

Curo plans to manage the homes "in perpetuity." The housing association states that heat pumps, solar panels, and "energy-efficient building materials" will be used.

Each home will have storage for two bicycles and a parking space, and some will have chargers for electric cars.
