Winning the bet : Enjoying the first pint after lockdown at the Wetherspoons in Midsomer Norton

The first pint was claimed in Wetherspoons in Midsomer Norton by Steve Barr.

He bought the first drink as The Palladium Electric started serving.

Not only was he very pleased to be the first at 9am, it secured him a payout on a bet with a friend that the pubs would be re-opening at a certain date.

He was at the High Street venue from earlier - 'Spoons opened at 8am on July 4 - but they were not serving alcohol for the first hour of re-opened trading.

Steve bought his pint at the bar, but after that customers are expected to sit down and wait to be served at the tables.

If you want to hear how The Palladium Electric is now working with different safety measures and new ways of ordering, you can watch the video above.(July 4) .
