Our client, a leading manufacturing and engineering company, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the sales and design team by working on the mechanical design of new products and upgrades to existing products. This is a permanent position based on-site, with occasional travel to sites as required.

Salary: 30,000

Location: Radstock, sommerset

The company: Our client specializes in designing and manufacturing bespoke product handling systems, including robotics, conveyor systems, and palletisers. They deliver their high-quality products to some of the biggest names in British manufacturing.

Summary of role: In this role, you will be involved in the full lifecycle of the product, from initial conception and design to production and installation. You will ensure that projects are completed within agreed deadlines and budgets. This position would be ideal for a Graduate with some industry experience looking for a new and exciting challenge.

The ideal candidate: We are looking for a creative and highly skilled individual with a strong problem-solving ability. You should have a 3D mindset and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Excellent time management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks are essential. You should be confident in turning technical ideas into reality to exceed customer expectations. Effective communication with clients and colleagues across various internal departments is crucial. Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Follow the project life cycle from conception to installation
  • Meet deadlines and budget requirements agreed with clients
  • Work within a small team of multi-disciplined engineers
  • Identify and define technical product specifications based on customer needs
  • Ensure compliance with internal and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare clear and comprehensive technical documentation with associated bill of materials
  • Liaise with in-house engineers, manufacturers, suppliers, and customers
  • Create 3D models
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding intellectual property
  • Assist with other duties and projects as directed by your manager

Qualifications, Experience and Essential Skills:

  • Engineering degree or relevant industry experience
  • Excellent computer skills, including CAD, CAM, Solidworks, and DraftSight
  • Analytical mindset
  • Customer-focused
  • Attention to detail
  • Current clean driving licence
