Acoustic Engineers are involved throughout the product engineering lifecycle, from research and initial design concepts through to supporting production and in-service product support.Thales Underwater Systems (UWS) who design, develop and support Sonar Systems applications for anti-submarine warfare and mine hunting, have a fantastic opportunity for an Acoustic Engineer to join a small, specialised and ever-growing team.What can we offer you?On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package, which includes:

- To conduct the design and development of the underwater sensing technologies of the future
- Modelling, prototyping/proof of concept, acoustic testing, integration and qualification activities, design for cost/manufacture, technical reporting
- To conduct research on novel and low maturity sensing technologies and materials
- Work with our Operations teams to support the manufacture and test of deliverable hardware.
- Support the enhancement of in-house acoustic test methods and facilities
- Complete activities in accordance with company procedures, safety and security regulations
- Actively engage in continuous personal development, working with your Team Leader to build a fulfilling career development path
- A Master's degree or equivalent in an appropriate engineering, maths or science discipline (e.g. acoustics, physics, product design, manufacturing engineering, mechanical and electrical engineering)
- Have a background in acoustics
- Prior experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) modelling is a plus
- Knowledge of transduction materials
- Knowledge of relevant physics (e.g. acoustics, vibration and resonant systems)
- Strong data analysis skills and sound mathematics
- Experience in conducting basic experimental laboratory testing
- A passion for undertaking underwater acoustic hardware research, design and development activities, interfacing with others as required
- A logical problem solving approach
- A team player with a 'can-do' attitude that performs effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment, promoting the values of inclusiveness and diversity
