A thrilling last minute goal has sent the Midsomer Norton football team to the top of their league.

Welton Rovers beat Cheddar three goals to two, with the last and decisive goal coming in the last moments of the game.

The team were playing away to the Cheesemen at Bowdens Park, with the Cheddar team warning fans ahead of the game that the Green Army would be tough to beat.

The Army are the longest serving Western League members and five-time champions and have had, what even the Cheddar team describe as: " A monumental start to the season."

Welton have been unbeaten since their opening game on September 12 and although only 12 miles separate them from Cheddar, they went into the game eight league positions above them.

The winning goal was scored by Kyle Box and was described as " an unstoppable gem of a goal."

Welton are now top of the Toolstation Division One League table.
