Bath College Adult Community Learning Online Courses : Including one specifically for the over 40s

By Susie Watkins 13th Oct 2020

Bath College is very excited to announce a new phase of delivering courses online which aims to break any barriers down over anxieties felt from entering classrooms at this uncertain time.

Not only this, but it also means that previous issues encountered by students such as childcare or travel no longer have to stop them from enrolling onto and taking part in the classes.

As always, courses are free to any learners over the age of 19 who are in receipt of benefits, unemployed or earning less than £17,004 per year. Unfortunately, due to our tutors wanting to deliver the courses as effectively as possible, they will be limited to a maximum of 8 learners per course. They will therefore be working on a first come first served basis with a waiting list put in place for any interest in courses that are already full.

The courses that they have coming up are:

-Age Positive: Job Seeking for Over 40s

A series of supportive workshops and one-to-one coaching sessions to explore fresh ideas about job seeking in the modern labour market. Looking at the benefits that being over 40 can bring to jobs or volunteering and recognise the skills that are already there in order to help overcome any workplace negativity.

Mondays and Thursdays from the 23rd Nov-17th Dec, 10-11:30am (6 group sessions in total with two 1-2-1 sessions with the tutor to help dismiss any technological issues and to discover what the learner wants to gain from the course).

-Nutrition for Early Years

A six week course to help parents and carers of young people understand healthy eating guidelines; to understand how diet affects health and wellbeing; to understand factors that influence parental food choices and to put all of this into practice.

Tuesdays from the 3rd Nov-8th Dec, 10-11:30am (6 group sessions in total)

-IT Skills for Employability

A six week course which uses project based learning to introduce the student to IT based employability skills. This course is not for total beginners but for those who feel comfortable around a PC/laptop (if they've done our courses before we would like them to be around a Step2.5/3 level).

Tuesdays from the 10th Nov-15th Dec, 10am-12pm

All of the courses will be taking place on Teams, and the learners are able to ACL before the start of the course with regards to any technical queries.

If you have any questions, or would like to enrol contact the College on 01225 328822 or email [email protected]
