M&Co closes doors April 1 in Midsomer Norton

The last day of trading for the M&Co in Midsomer Norton was on Saturday (April 1).
It is not known what will happen to the store, closed as part of a nationwide closure announced in December, with 170 stores already or about to shut the doors.
The clothing and home store company has been bought as part of a deal with other stores including Long Tall Sally by AK Retail Holdings, but there were no plans to keep M&Co running or even to move all its sales on line.
It is another blow to the High Street, with this week too the hugely popular Docky's deli at the other end of Midsomer Norton High Street planning to close for good on April 6.
M&Co was originally a pawnbrokers, Mackays (which started in 1834) and switched to selling clothes in 1953 by brothers Len and Iain McGeoch. In 2005 the company rebranded as M&Co. to reflect a more modern image.
