Midsomer Norton local councillor thanks local business for speedy help after suffering sudden sight loss

Well known local councillor Mike Moxham has thanked the careful and courteous staff at the local Specavers who helped him with a timely diagnosis and got him rushed to hospital
After an uneventful day out, Midsomer Norton councillor Mike Moxham woke to find he had lost sight in one eye.
He headed off to the High Street branch of Specavers where the diligent staff and the manager, did a series of tests and declared that in their professional opinion he had had a stroke, and he needed to be rushed into hospital.
He told Nub News: " The staff were excellent, they carried out all the checks on my eyes, so professional, and then told me it was an emergency and called an ambulance for me. "
The councillor, who has worked for the town for many years, was rushed into hospital, where after the same tests it was confirmed, he had indeed suffered a stroke, which had impacted his eye sight. He will have further tests and treatment later this week in hospital but it seems unlikely he will regain sight in his eye, so he is wearing a patch to get used to only having limited vision.
Cllr Moxham said: " I will be returning Thursday to hospital but they have warned me it is extremely I will get his sight back. " Although under DVLA rules he should still be able to use his scooter.
In spite of his health problems the councillor was out today (August 14) talking to local residents about a planning issue, where Nub News met him.
He was very keep to thank Specsavers, they were nothing short of 'brilliant' he told us, adding that his latest health problems will not stop his council work.
He said: " I have a lot of work still to do, I have an obligation to the people of Midsomer Norton to keep getting out and about."
