The second free Midsomer Norton Town Council Children's Christmas Party took place at the Somer Centre on Saturday 4th December 2021 between 12 and 2pm. The event first took place in 2019, but unfortunately, was not able to go ahead in 2020 due to the Covid pandemic.

This year's event was again free to all children who are resident in Midsomer Norton and of Primary School age. All those attending the Party required a ticket to gain entry on the day. This year saw slightly fewer children attend than in 2019, but we still had a sizeable number of children turn up! As a sign of the times – temperatures were taken, and hand sanitiser and masks were available at the entrance.

The much loved Rocky's Magic Parties kept the children well entertained with music, dancing, and games. Some lovely Christmassy face painting was provided by Hayley's Braids and Faces, and festive arts, crafts and activities including decorating keyrings, Christmas tree decorations, making Christmas cards and a Christmas star, were provided by Town Council staff and Youth Connect South West. The children went home with lovely decorations!

There was a break in proceedings at 1pm for the children to have lunch, which was supplied by Mandy's Buffet – who again put on a great spread for the children. Parents who stayed were also treated to mince pies and cups of hot chocolate.

After lunch, the children returned to their entertainment and activities, and towards the end of the party, the arrival of an incredibly special visitor was announced by a bell. Father Christmas, supported by one of his happy Elves made an appearance! Father Christmas and his Elf gave each child a chocolate selection box and a reindeer kit to make a reindeer at home.

We have received some lovely comments from those who attended:

"We just wanted to say that the Christmas party on Saturday was absolutely brilliant. Thank you so much to everyone involved! We were amazed by all the things that were included in a free ticket.
