New date for Organ Donation Week : Wear something pink Radstock residents are urged
Organ Donation Week campaign is now taking place between 26th September to 2nd October inclusive.
The timing of the campaign has been moved to respect the period of national mourning, due to the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Organisers are asking everyone to Show Their Heart - with them asking everyone to go pink for the week.
Ideas to raise the profile of being a donor in the UK can be as simple as baking a pink cake or wearing pink socks.
They will be running a social media campaign too with #organdonation and tag us @nhsorgandonor to show off people's efforts. They hope that by asking everyone to go pink for the week even more people will see how important organ donation is, and that it's easy and quick to add their name to the NHS Organ Donor Register to help save or transform lives.
According to the latest NHS statistics there are currently 6629 people are waiting for a transplant in the UK, with 1569 having received a transplant since April 2022. (Figures from June 2022). You can check the latest numbers and find out how to sign up HERE
