Is your New Year resolution to really do SOMETHING. Well this would leave a lasting legacy for Midsomer Norton.

The Midsomer Norton Cultural Consortium is seeking local artists to design and paint benches for a new trail in the town centre.

You can now apply for up to £1,000 to design a unique, colourful bench inspired by local culture, history, people and places. There are three upcycled benches ready for a make over... all being given some TLC by the local men's shed.

A grand idea indeed and once they have been stripped and sanded, they will be ready to be installed, once that is, they are made into unique pieces of local art.

The benches, formerly installed on Midsomer Norton High Street, will be put back to encourage local people to pause and enjoy time together in the outdoors.

Applications are welcomed from local artists – individuals, studios, or collaborations. Selected artists must be located within 15 miles of Midsomer Norton, and young artists, disabled and neuro-divergent artists, LGBTQ+ artists and artists of colour are particularly encouraged to apply.

Expressions of Interest must be received by midnight on 31 January 2023.
