In planning news in and around Midsomer Norton this week:

The temporary details are under application (18/01562/FUL) At 36 Bryant Avenue, in Westfield, under 21/04128/FUL an application is in to build a single storey side and rear extension, following the demolition of existing conservatory. While in Shoscombe, the homeowners of Woodland View, on Single Hill, (details under 21/03942/FUL) are proposing to build a new home after the demolition of an existing bungalow. B&NES planners have refused an application to turn the empty shop premises at 50 High Street, in Midsomer Norton, from being a shop (Use Class A1) into a home (Use Class C3). The exact decision is given as: "Prior Approval is required and in this instance is REFUSED for the proposed development for the following reasons: 1 1 The application site is located within a conservation area, which is designated land falling under article 2(3) land. The application was submitted for prior approval under Class M (Schedule 2, Part 1) of The Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015 (as amended) on 13 July 2021, prior to revisions to the Order on 1 August 2021. Class M supported the change of use of a building in Class A1 or Class A2 for applications submitted no later than 31 July 2021. However, Class M development is not permitted if the building is on article 2(3) land. " Planners have agreed an application to vary condition 4 (which concerns materials ) on planning agreed for 1 Pitway Close, in Farrington Gurney. This is for a detached dormer style bungalow on the site. They have permitted an application for a two storey side extension at 34 Laxton Way, in Peasedown St. John. And in case you missed there are just two days left to object to plans on the Mendip planning site to an application to build hundreds of homes up at the White Post.
