Somer Valley Foodbank has updated its list of what staples it needs from donors, as its work load increased.

The bank is currently doing well for supplies and offers of help. but has updated its list of staples they particularly want - and said: "Please no beans."

The April list is : fruit juice, squash, corned beef, tinned tomatoes, tomato ketchup, brown sauce, instant mashed potato, milk powder, sponge puddings and UHT milk.

In terms of personal care they need shaving foam and toilet cleaner, along with household cleaners (but not bleach).

As of today (March 30) organisers say that they have enough of their usual volunteers to keep going, but many people have already been in touch offering to help alongside them.

Paul Woodward the Somer Valley Co-ordinator said: " Many people have offered to help and I am contacting them as and when we need extra hands."

But he urged those who do go out shopping not to forget the food bank and said: " The main thing we need is food, soap and any long life items. But not pasta or baked beans."

The foodbank supplies people who need it most with basic provisions.

In order to access the system people will still need to go to an agency to get a voucher to be able to use the foodbank.

Vouchers can be supplied by welfare support, health visitors, the Hollies in Midsomer Norton, DHI, CAB, their housing association, PEOPLE charity, Children Centre, the Carers Centre, Family teams and Virgin care.
