"Showing such disrespect" - vandals hit the Midsomer Norton war memorial

By Susie Watkins 5th Sep 2021

There were calls today for Midsomer Norton High Street pubs and clubs to pay for the damage caused late last night (September 4) the town's war memorial.

Vandals pulled up plants, threw the flowers and earth across the street and knocked over one of the planters around the memorial enscribed with the names of the town's war dead.

Social media was flooded with comments on how disrespectful the vandals had been, and that the Royal British Legion, which holds the annual remembrance service at the statue, had been informed.

Several residents also said that the pubs and clubs local to the memorial should foot the bill for the damage.

Midsomer Norton Nub News has approached the community police group for comment.
