In a move that some parents have described as 'unbelievable' the story of the birth of Jesus has become a paid-for event at a couple of local schools.

Parents have been asked to bring not just goodwill but money to watch the shows starring their little ones.

The ticket price has divided social media, with some saying they are beyond shocked at the move, while others said they didn't mind if the money went to other activities.

Not all local schools have put a price on watching your sheep or star, Mary or Joseph - or a word to the wise ?

St Nicholas in Radstock is still free and so is Westfield Primary.

But it was reported that Longvernal had charged £2.50 and Clutton Primary had charged £2.

St John's Primary and Nursery in Midsomer Norton were free.

Over in Mells, parents said they were asked to pay £1.
