Waterhouse Financial Advisers - A local business at heart
Waterhouse Financial Advisers have been at the heart of Midsomer Norton for over 25 years, but with a new line up of directors, the company has now come of age, marking its first anniversary since the new team have taken charge.
Even so, some of the 'new' faces will also be familiar to many of the families in Midsomer Norton, people who the company have helped through decades of financial support and advice.
All the new company directors are previous Waterhouse employees, who have already amassed close to 50 years of combined experience in the financial services industry, primarily within the company.
Waterhouse has been offering advice in connection to investments, pensions, mortgages and insurance to generations of Somer Valley families, so it is perhaps not surprising that they also work as a family, anchored in a firm belief in quality, providing a personal and direct service, which allows you to develop an ongoing relationship with a familiar, yet professional, local financial adviser.
Local, but with a comprehensive offering of financial advice
The business started out as a relatively small operation run from a family home and has grown significantly to ensure it is fully able to support an ever-growing client base. The company now consists of ten employees, and Financial and Mortgage advice, when you need it, is available from one of two key locations on Midsomer Norton High Street.
It has always been a local business, aiming to offer a comprehensive financial planning service for residents, covering investment, pension, mortgage and protection needs.

Liam is a qualified pension transfer specialist.
Elizabeth Dennis has worked for the company for 18 years. Elizabeth began her career working as a company administrator, before qualifying as a mortgage adviser, then later obtaining her level 4 diploma in regulated financial planning.

Brothers James and Lawrence Docherty, who trained under their father and previous company Director Julian Docherty, both previously worked as mortgage and protection advisers for a national organisation, prior to joining the family-run firm.
Since then, James has become a qualified financial adviser. He provides a professional and friendly face to face advice service on all matters associated with financial planning.
Lawrence has helped numerous families and individuals with their protection needs in areas such as life assurance, critical illness cover and income protection. Lawrence prides himself on being professional and approachable and has recently joined his fellow directors in obtaining his level 4 diploma in regulated financial planning.
Sales and Marketing Director Sam Knight said: "It is so important that local people have somewhere to go to people they can trust and know, for sound financial advice."
These are challenging times
Newly qualified Lawrence said: "For many years it has has been easy to choose a new rate with your current mortgage provider and know that you were obtaining a competitive deal. However, this has now changed, and in our opinion, it has never been more important to shop around to secure the most suitable rate possible.
"We have seen products which had all but vanished over the past ten years, including variable and tracker mortgage products return to the market, and in some cases these rates may now be more attractive than the fixed rate products that most of us have become accustomed to.
"Some of our clients are finding that the increase in their monthly mortgage payments is simply not manageable, regardless of the mortgage product, at which point we have helped them explore the possibility of extending the term of the mortgage."
Managing Director, Liam said: "When the economy is going through difficult times and everyone is feeling the pinch, it is important to take financial advice and trust the advice you are being given. While we can't prevent mortgage rates rising and volatile investment performance, we are able to cut through the negativity and provide personal advice, set goals, and make sense of our clients' finances.
"It is essential for people of all ages, whether they are buying their first house, remortgaging, investing an inheritance or looking to retire, to take control and not bury their heads in the sand. Times like these are tough, but should pass, and Waterhouse is happy to help where we can."
