Somer Valley FM, the local radio station for North East Somerset, exclusively interviewed many of the miners that reunited at last week's Somerset Miners' Welfare Trust (SMWT) Annual Reunion, held at the Radstock Museum.

Station Manager, Richard Burgess attended the event along with Rob Bayly, Debbie Chatting, Gemma Esclarin and David Walsh from Somer Valley FM.

'What an honour to be asked along', Richard said. 'There were over 40 ex-miners at the event. So many fascinating stories were shared with us, along with bags of dedications. I plan our special show, in honour of the miners, to reflect the dignity and honour they show, and provide an insight into the extremely challenging conditions they had to work under. Plus, we have an exclusive interview with their President, Michael Eavis. Festivals get a mention too!'

In commemoration of the day, Somer Valley FM will broadcast a show in honour of the reunion, an Open Mic special, broadcast 6pm Tuesday 14 September. It will be available for another month, on demand, via www.somervalleyfm.co.uk
