He is as Midsomer Norton as the river running through the High Street.

Ken (never Kenneth) Cottle has been running businesses in the town for nearly 40 years. So we thought it was well overdue time that we talked to him about shops, shopping and why he loves what he does.

He told Nub News: " I might be able to think of some bits and pieces about business in the town, I don't think I have forgotten everything yet, so I will be able to tell you some things for sure."

Midsomer Norton Nub News plans on sitting down with Mr Cottle later this week, so perhaps you have some questions for this long term shop owner and keeper in the town?

But meantime why is he so keen NOT to be called Kenneth?

" One or two people still do call me Kenneth, " the owner of Cottle Cards and Candies admitted . " But I don't want to be called Kenneth. Then there are people who still call me Mr Cottle.

" One lady who worked for me in Radstock back when her son who was that high (indicates a little boy height ) would call me Mr Cottle. He is now that tall (indicates a good foot taller than him) and what does he call me ? Still officially Mr Cottle, I have told him humpteen times, it is Ken and he still calls me my formal name."
