Radstock Nub News went over to check on progress of the Walnut Building demolition today (May 12).

The middle block is almost at ground level, with the other two now without any shell structure.

The demolition work, as reported by Nub News, started in mid April.

In 2019, as part of a planned programme of improvements of the 32 flats which comprise the Walnut Buildings, the local housing association Curo carried out a number of detailed surveys and inspections of the buildings.

Curo, which is also a house builder, later said: " The decision to demolish comes after in-depth surveys revealed that the type of construction would make it very difficult to refurbish the buildings to an acceptable standard."

The last remaining households moved out in September 2020.
