Some positive news - and it smells good too.

Because so many countries have shuttered down, there are currently only two main customers at the international flower markets in Holland, the UK and Germany, so blooms there are a plenty.

Many of them are finding their way to Radstock, where the staff are busy at what is traditionally one of the biggest dates in the floral calendar.

While that may change in the coming days, Radstock's local flower shop is still doing a brisk trade for Mother's Day - and all family occasions - and has plenty of flowers in stock.

The family-owned shop on Fortescue Road, now managed by Rebecca Boulton, is full of flowers and the staff are busy making up bouquets for one of their busiest times.

Rebecca told Nub News: " We still have lots of flowers and our supplier is keeping us up to date with what he is bringing in. So whatever you want to make into a present or bouquet we can do. Right now we have all kinds of flowers, and we don't have a shortage."

The staff are keen to make sure that it is a truly local service so they will take orders over the phone or in person although as Rebecca joked: " Or if you are scared to come in the shop, stand outside and shout, we can make up your flowers and bring them outside for you to pick up."

Being a family business the team know lots of their customers by first name, and are also offering to help out in any way they can, delivering food and goods if they can get hold of them.

"It is important for the community to come together," said Rebecca. " Everyone loves flowers and I love my job, so I hope we can keep going for as long as possible."

The shop is open until 5.30 pm today (Thursday) and tomorrow and until 5pm on Saturday. Flower orders can also be taken by phone: 01761 433241.
