In case you missed it the Somerset Coalfield Museum in Radstock has been declared the best small museum in the UK.

In The Guardian newspaper it was described as a hidden gem, well laid out and fighting off stereotypes of Somerset being just a place for cider, cheddar cheese and yokels. The museum was described as " superlative."

Pleased with the publicity, the museum, which re-opens on June 2 has renewed its appeal for help.

Dr Nick Hall, who as Chairman of the museum led them through a period of renaissance, has hard to step back due to ill health.

Three other Trustees (Tom Randall, Dr Anne Miall and Dr Eleanor Jackson) stepped down at the end of last year.

Three new Trustees have now been appointed, Jenny Newbury, Jackie Britton and Bryn Hawkins.

But if any reader has an interest in getting involved with the management of the Charity and/or operating the Museum please contact them via email [email protected] to learn more about possible roles and the opportunities available.
