A fortune teller known as "Mystic Veg" who predicts the future using ASPARAGUS believes Brits will enjoy a record-breaking hot summer before we plunge back into an Autumn lockdown.

Jemima Packington, 64, is the world's only asparamancer and claims she can peer into the future by tossing the spears into the air.

She then bases her predictions by interpreting how the vegetables land on the ground.

Amazingly, Jemima has previously predicted Brexit, Prince Philip's death, Theresa May being ousted as PM and England winning the Cricket World Cup.

And in 2020 she said there would be turmoil within the Royal family with certain members no longer doing public duties before the news of Harry and Meghan broke.

This year she believes the UK will have one of the hottest summers on record leading to sizzling staycations and over-crowded beaches as well as hosepipe bans and wildfires.

She also reckons the country will return to another lockdown in Autumn due to Covid variants and people refusing vaccinations.

Jemima, of Bath, says more people will give up eating fish and chips due to concerns for our oceans despite Brits flocking to domestic seaside resorts.

And she estimates Christmas 2021 celebrations will be modest affair after we realise how much we actually enjoyed last year's low-key lockdown festivities.

Jemima said: "When I cast the asparagus, it creates patterns and it is the patterns I interpret. I'm able to interpret the patterns left by the asparagus

"I am usually about 75-90 per cent accurate with my predictions. I go through my predictions each year and think: 'Yep, that's happened, yep, that's happened.'

"Occasionally I get one slightly off, where I haven't quite read it correctly, but I'm never far off.

"Brexit happened, and Prince Harry did have a very important announcement.

"I take what I do seriously but I never take myself seriously."

Jemima, who lives in B&NES, uses fresh Worcestershire asparagus grown in the Vale of Evesham - the UK's main supplier of the vegetable.

She picks a handful of tips, tosses them into the air and "reads" the shapes they form when they land.

She began making predictions aged about eight - a gift she says she inherited from her great aunt who used to read tea leaves.

Last year Jemima predicted more royal births and a bereavement and was proven right when the Sussexes announced Meghan was pregnant with their second child and Prince Philip died.

In 2019 she correctly predicted cricket success for England, Big Brother returning to our screens and US romantic musical 'A Star is Born' winning an Oscar.

She also foresaw the closure of household British businesses before Thomas Cook and Mothercare closed for good.

Jemima also said 2019 would see a year of extreme temperatures, which proved to be the case in the UK and worldwide.

Before that she correctly foresaw Andy Murray winning Wimbledon, the Euro crisis and the credit crunch.

*PREDICTIONS:

One of the hottest summers on record will mean hosepipe bans, over-crowded beaches and wildfires becoming the norm in the UK.

More people will forgo fish amid growing concerns about the fishing industry's environmental impact.

New Covid variants and vaccine hesitancy will be the main causes of a late autumn lockdown, but schools will stay open.

As people tire of social media, the tech giants try to engage with people on a hyper-local level to encourage them back.
